Basel?s Marktplatz is a major construction site due to track works and the refurbishment of the tram stop. No trams have been running here since the beginning of July and will remain suspended until 6 September ? and this is on Europe?s busiest tram route. The construction site is therefore a significant event.
The market is still open, albeit with fewer stalls.
For those who prefer a more idyllic setting, Andreasplatz, Schneidergasse with its caf?s, R?melinsplatz or Schiffl?nde are all good options.
