Sketchcrawl at Station Circus at Dreispitz, Basel

Station Circus at Dreispitz, a temporary use project now in its 12th year featuring a big top, old circus and site huts, and an old tram, is a place brimming with creative imagination.

Normally, the site is closed to the public outside performance times. This afternoon, however, a member of the team opens the gate for us and we are made to feel very welcome to draw. The team running the site is also very keen to see our drawings.

This venue for contemporary circus invites international and Swiss circus companies to perform and offers circus artists space to train and rehearse. The project is supported by the Station Circus association, which is also committed to the further development of circus culture in Switzerland. The aim is to strengthen networking within the local contemporary circus scene and to improve research, rehearsal and production opportunities for circus creations in Switzerland.
