SUMMARY:Sketching the Grossmünster cloister
DESCRIPTION:The summer temperatures are here to stay\, making it the perfect time to seek out one of the shadiest spots in Zurich’s Old Town. Our destination is the cloister of the Grossmünster. Although thousands of people pass the Grossmünster every day\, many have never discovered this peaceful retreat. With its Romanesque arches\, elegant columns\, the interplay of light and shadow\, and views into the small garden\, it offers a unique atmosphere and plenty of inspiring sketching subjects. \nMeeting point: On the square in front of the main entrance to the Grossmünster\, by the large lime tree. \nPlease bring your own drawing materials and\, ideally\, a small folding stool. No prior experience required. We sketch for about 2 hours\, solo or in small groups\, at an easy pace. Afterwards we regroup\, share our sketches and take a group photo.

SUMMARY:Sketching at Botanischer Garten Grüningen (ZH)
DESCRIPTION:After several meetups in the city\, it is time for another small trip outside Zurich. Our destination is the Botanical Garden Grüningen\, set on a hill above the historic little town and shaped like an arboretum. The award-winning greenhouse\, trees and shrubs from around the world\, and the varied outdoor spaces offer plenty of sketching subjects somewhere between plant study and architecture. Even in less-than-perfect weather\, the visit is well worth it: there are several sheltered places to draw and take cover\, not only inside the greenhouse itself. We are very pleased to be welcomed to the garden and would like to warmly thank our hosts for the invitation. \nMeeting point\nAt the entrance to the Botanical Garden Grüningen. \nGetting there\nBy public transport\, you can reach the garden from Zurich\, Winterthur or Rapperswil via S-Bahn to Wetzikon ZH\, then bus 867 to Grüningen\, Im Haufland. From Uster\, take bus 845 to Grüningen\, Im Haufland. From the bus stop\, it is about a 20-minute walk to the garden. \nIf you are coming by car\, free parking is available. \nMore information can be found here: https://www.botanischer-garten.ch/den-garten-besuchen/ \nEntrance\nThe entrance is free of charge. \nPlease bring your own drawing materials and\, ideally\, a small folding stool. No prior experience required. We sketch for about 2 hours\, solo or in small groups\, at an easy pace. Afterwards we regroup\, share our sketches and take a group photo.

SUMMARY:Sketching around Klausbrunnen
DESCRIPTION:This time we will sketch around the Klausbrunnen in Zurich’s Oberdorf. The fountain goes back to a request from 1588 and is therefore part of the city’s layered urban history. Around the square there are many narrow lanes where you will find both shade and plenty of picturesque corners waiting to be sketched. \nMeeting point: On the small open square at the corner of Neustadtgasse / Frankengasse\, right by the Klausbrunnen. \nPlease bring your own drawing materials and\, ideally\, a small folding stool. No prior experience required. We sketch for about 2 hours\, solo or in small groups\, at an easy pace. Afterwards we regroup\, share our sketches and take a group photo.

SUMMARY:Sketching at Zurich Albisrieden
DESCRIPTION:The forecast for the weekend looks good\, so this time we are heading outdoors again. Albisrieden is one of those Zurich districts where you can still sense something of the city’s village past: around the historic centre\, timber-framed houses\, narrow lanes\, fountains and long-established public spaces meet everyday neighbourhood life. That contrast makes it especially appealing for urban sketching. \nMeeting point: At 11:00 a.m. at the fountain in the village centre\, right by the local museum (Ortsmuseum) at the corner of Albisriederstrasse / Triemlistrasse. \nPlease bring your own drawing materials and\, ideally\, a small folding stool. No prior experience required. We sketch for about 2 hours\, solo or in small groups\, at an easy pace. Afterwards we regroup\, share our sketches and take a group photo. As always\, we follow the Urban Sketchers values: https://urbansketchers.org/who-we-are/#mission/ \n#uskzurich

SUMMARY:Drawing at the Rietberg Museum (Zurich)
DESCRIPTION:The Museum Rietberg’s exhibition “Mongolia – A Journey through Time” connects archaeology\, history and the present: over 200 loans from Mongolian museums\, early urban centres\, craftsmanship and art\, plus insights into today’s life between city and steppe. For urban sketchers this means crisp shapes\, ornamental details\, textiles and characterful objects\, along with the museum’s architecture and spaces. \n  \nWe meet in front of the museum at the main entrance\, which opens at 10:00. Admission is CHF 18. Only pencils and coloured pencils may be taken into and used in the exhibition. Large bags/backpacks are not permitted – please use the lockers and bring coins for a possible deposit. As in most museums\, chairs are available on site.
