DESCRIPTION:Please note: Brought forward to the morning due to the extreme heat  \nAs is well known\, yodelling festivals are celebrated with spontaneous group yodelling\, singing and alphorn playing\, combined with flag-waving in the alleys of the festival grounds. The festival grounds are divided into three zones: the Yodelling Village on Petersplatz\, the Yodelling Mile by the adjacent Petersgraben\, and the ?Yodelling Hill? (i.e. the old town alleys). There will be a large number of small and larger festival bars and stalls throughout the area to cater for everyone at the Swiss Festival. An overview of the festival grounds can be found on the site map (link to site map). Access to the festival grounds is generally free. \nWe?ll meet in front of St Peter?s Church. Subjects to sketch can be found directly opposite on Petersplatz\, where the ?Yodelling Village? is located\, featuring the open-air stage of the Basler Kantonalbank (BKB). \nFor anyone who?d like to sketch alphorn players\, I recommend the rehearsal area for alphorn performances at the Holbeinschulhaus\, Pausenplatz\, Kanonengasse 9. DESCRIPTION:After several meetups in the city\, it is time for another small trip outside Zurich. Our destination is the Botanical Garden Gr?ningen\, set on a hill above the historic little town and shaped like an arboretum. The award-winning greenhouse\, trees and shrubs from around the world\, and the varied outdoor spaces offer plenty of sketching subjects somewhere between plant study and architecture. Even in less-than-perfect weather\, the visit is well worth it: there are several sheltered places to draw and take cover\, not only inside the greenhouse itself. We are very pleased to be welcomed to the garden and would like to warmly thank our hosts for the invitation. \nMeeting point\nAt the entrance to the Botanical Garden Gr?ningen. \nGetting there\nBy public transport\, you can reach the garden from Zurich\, Winterthur or Rapperswil via S-Bahn to Wetzikon ZH\, then bus 867 to Gr?ningen\, Im Haufland. From Uster\, take bus 845 to Gr?ningen\, Im Haufland. From the bus stop\, it is about a 20-minute walk to the garden. \nIf you are coming by car\, free parking is available. \nMore information can be found here: https://www.botanischer-garten.ch/den-garten-besuchen/ \nEntrance\nThe entrance is free of charge. \nPlease bring your own drawing materials and\, ideally\, a small folding stool. Treffpunkt ist um 14 Uhr vor dem Eingang des Parkes beim Restaurant Ecluse. \nZeichnungsort: Bei dieser Hitze suchen wir Schatten\, gr?n und Wasser. All das findet sich im und um den Elfenaupark! Der Park bietet h?he B?ume\, einen Teich und kleine Fl?sschen. Auch die Sch?ss-Promenade mit seinen hohen Baumreihen bietet reichlich Schatten und k?hl. In Laufn?he befinden sich zudem die Innenstadt mit der Braderie sowie der Strandboden\, wer kurz baden m?chte. Das Restaurant Ecluse ist leider sonntags geschlossen\, bietet aber mit seinem Vordach Schutz\, sollte ein Gewitter durchziehen.

Und in der N?he steht ein kleiner H?gel mit einer Kapelle. Also\, langweilig wird es nicht. \nWann: Sonntag\, 5. Juli 2026\nZeit: von 10:00 bis 12:00\nOrt: Agrarmuseum Burgrain\nTreffpunkt: vor dem Museum \nAnfahrt mit dem ?V:\nAb Bahnhof Willisau Bus Nummer 271 (Richtung Dagmersellen) oder 63 (Richtung Sursee)\, ab Bahnhof Sursee Bus Nummer 63 (Richtung K?ppelimatt) oder ab Bahnhof Nebikon Bus Nummer 271 (Richtung Willisau) bis zur Haltstelle ?Alberswil Burgrain?. With its Romanesque arches\, elegant columns\, the interplay of light and shadow\, and views into the small garden\, it offers a unique atmosphere and plenty of inspiring sketching subjects. \nMeeting point: On the square in front of the main entrance to the Grossm?nster\, by the large lime tree. \nPlease bring your own drawing materials and\, ideally\, a small folding stool. This new building by Santiago Calatrava was completed in 2025 and replaces the former Haus zum Falken\, which dated from 1918. Calatrava had previously designed Stadelhofen station\, which opened in 1990. More than 30 years later\, he is now adding another striking building to his well-known Zurich landmark. The focus will be on drawing together and personal exchange. All artists are welcome\, regardless of skill level\, experience\, background\, or age. \nIn St.Gallen\, we are breaking new ground. At this year’s USk meeting\, we are offering you a program that focuses on drawing together and personal exchange… without workshops. We are focusing on 4 SketchWalks with a total of 18 SketchPoints\, during which we will discover the alleys and corners of the historic city of St. Gallen together. We also offer a great supporting program with plenty of opportunity to talk shop with old and new friends\, and we’ll give you an inspiring souvenir to take home with you. SUMMARY:Saturday\, 5 September 2026: Sketchcrawl Basel at a Singspiel rehearsal
DESCRIPTION:Photo: The Erlacherhof without the set for the production \n  \nWe have been invited to sketch during the rehearsal of the Singspiel *Die Fischerin* (1782) by Corona Schr?ter and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. It will be accompanied by guitar and harpsichord. A small ad hoc ensemble has enthusiastically set about breathing life into these songs at selected locations where Goethe once stayed. Anyone who wishes to do so can also sketch during the performance in the evening. \n  \n1. Rehearsal\nWe?ll meet at the Erlacherhof in St. Johann\, which Goethe visited twice. This is where some of the rehearsals will take place\, as well as the final act of the performance in the evening. Although we?ll be sketching against a stylish backdrop\, the songs only last a few minutes\, so the performers will be changing positions frequently. This makes sketching quite challenging. \nMeeting point\n3.00 pm Erlacherhof\, St. Johanns-Vorstadt 17 (in the courtyard)\, Basel\nDuration until approx. 5.00 pm\, followed by a look at our sketches \n  \n2. Performance\n \nThe Singspiel will be performed from 8.00 pm until around 9.00 pm and takes the form of a promenade from St. Johanns-Rheinweg via various stops in St. Johann to the Erlacherhof\, where\, amongst other things\, the first musical setting of Goethe?s *Erlk?nig* will be performed. On the Rhine\, weidling boatmen will be incorporated into the proceedings. At around 8.30 pm\, dusk will slowly begin to fall and the finale of the performance will take place in the evening atmosphere by candlelight. \nIf you?d like to sketch during the performance\, you could head to the first station on your own as soon as the concert begins at 8.00 pm. This is in a different location to the meeting point for concert-goers\, so you?ll have time to settle in and sketch the first scene. Please send me a brief email to herrat-usk@bluewin.ch\, and I?ll send you the location of the first station and put you in touch with the artistic director\, Helena Langewitz\, so that you can be added to the guest list. \n  \nThe ensemble is very keen to receive sketches from the rehearsal or performance\, especially as Goethe himself also used to draw. I would then organise this for you. Please send me a sketch in high-resolution image format to my email address given above. The quality of the sketch doesn?t matter.
