DESCRIPTION:This month we’ll meet at the Maison-Royale. \nMeeting point: In front of Maison-Royale at Quai Gustave-Ador\, 46 \nClassified as a historical monument by the Canton of Geneva in 2001\, the Maison Royale is undoubtedly the most impressive building on the harbor\, yet it has never housed a crowned head! Built between 1907 and 1909 by architects Henri Garcin and Charles Bizot\, it sparked the anger of Genevans\, who dubbed it ‘the jewel of macaque taste’ during the 1909 facade competition\, all due to the particular architectural tastes of the epoch. \nDon’t forget your sunscreen and hat! ☀️ \nAs always\, please bring your sketching material: \n• Sketchbook/Paper pad\,\n• Pencils\, rubber\, pens\,\n• Watercolors\, brushes\,\n• Folding stool\, field easel\n• etc…

SUMMARY:Sketchcrawl at the Swiss Yodelling Festival\, Basel
DESCRIPTION:As is well known\, yodelling festivals are celebrated with spontaneous group yodelling\, singing and alphorn playing\, combined with flag-waving in the alleys of the festival grounds. The festival grounds are divided into three zones: the Yodelling Village on Petersplatz\, the Yodelling Mile by the adjacent Petersgraben\, and the ‘Yodelling Hill’ (i.e. the old town alleys). There will be a large number of small and larger festival bars and stalls throughout the area to cater for everyone at the Swiss Festival. An overview of the festival grounds can be found on the site map (link to site map). Access to the festival grounds is generally free. \nWe’ll meet in front of St Peter’s Church. Subjects to sketch can be found directly opposite on Petersplatz\, where the ‘Yodelling Village’ is located\, featuring the open-air stage of the Basler Kantonalbank (BKB). \nFor anyone who’d like to sketch alphorn players\, I recommend the rehearsal area for alphorn performances at the Holbeinschulhaus\, Pausenplatz\, Kanonengasse 9. SUMMARY:Sketching at  Botanischer Garten Grüningen (ZH)
DESCRIPTION:After several meetups in the city\, it is time for another small trip outside Zurich. Our destination is the Botanical Garden Grüningen\, set on a hill above the historic little town and shaped like an arboretum. The award-winning greenhouse\, trees and shrubs from around the world\, and the varied outdoor spaces offer plenty of sketching subjects somewhere between plant study and architecture. Even in less-than-perfect weather\, the visit is well worth it: there are several sheltered places to draw and take cover\, not only inside the greenhouse itself. We are very pleased to be welcomed to the garden and would like to warmly thank our hosts for the invitation. \nMeeting point\nAt the entrance to the Botanical Garden Grüningen. \nGetting there\nBy public transport\, you can reach the garden from Zurich\, Winterthur or Rapperswil via S-Bahn to Wetzikon ZH\, then bus 867 to Grüningen\, Im Haufland. From Uster\, take bus 845 to Grüningen\, Im Haufland. From the bus stop\, it is about a 20-minute walk to the garden. \nIf you are coming by car\, free parking is available. \nMore information can be found here: https://www.botanischer-garten.ch/den-garten-besuchen/ \nEntrance\nThe entrance is free of charge. \nPlease bring your own drawing materials and\, ideally\, a small folding stool. Hotels are listed in the program. \nMeals: Breakfast and lunch are on your own; dinner can be eaten individually or together at restaurants and grottos in the area. \nParticipants: A maximum of 12 participants per workshop\, for a total of 24. \nUSK Week welcomes everyone who enjoys drawing. No prior experience is necessary. \nLanguage: The workshops led by Jenny Adam and Rolf Schröter will be held in German\, while those led by Eleanor Doughty and Stéphanie Senez will be in English. \nCurrent Information:\nBefore each workshop\, at 8:50 a.m.\, participants will be informed about the program details and meeting points for the sketchwalks. \nShort-notice program changes are possible. \nMaterials and Preparation:\nBring your preferred materials such as pencils\, brushes\, paints\, sketchbooks\, and drawing pads. The event serves as a pre-event for the 8th Swiss Urban Sketchers Symposium 2026\, taking place in St. Gallen in September\, and\, together with the preceding three-day exhibition «Urban Sketching» in the region\, aims to raise awareness of urban sketching and the drawing gathering. \nDate: Sunday\, August 16\, 2026

\nMeeting point: TRAFO\, Stadtwald\, 9400 Rorschach \nThe SKETCHcrawl marks the conclusion of the exhibition «Urban Sketching»\, organized by the Kunstverein Rorschach in collaboration with the Urban Sketchers St. Gallen. We invite a diverse selection of urban sketchers to exhibit their sketchbooks\, loose drawings\, or even framed artwork during the three-day exhibition from August 14–16\, 2026\, at TRAFO Rorschach. This call is open to all artists\, regardless of where they live or whether they belong to a USk regional group. SUMMARY:8th Swiss Urban Sketchers Symposium 2026 in St.Gallen
DESCRIPTION:The city of St.Gallen is famous for its picturesque old town with 111 ornate bay windows. The Abbey District\, with its impressive Baroque cathedral and the opulent Rococo hall of the Abbey Library\, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here\, history can be experienced at every turn. 
From September 3–5\, 2026\, urban sketchers from near and far will gather here to discover the city through drawing. The focus will be on drawing together and personal exchange. All artists are welcome\, regardless of skill level\, experience\, background\, or age. \nIn St.Gallen\, we are breaking new ground. At this year’s USk meeting\, we are offering you a program that focuses on drawing together and personal exchange… without workshops. We are focusing on 4 SketchWalks with a total of 18 SketchPoints\, during which we will discover the alleys and corners of the historic city of St. Gallen together. We also offer a great supporting program with plenty of opportunity to talk shop with old and new friends\, and we’ll give you an inspiring souvenir to take home with you.
