Hotels are listed in the program. \nMeals: Breakfast and lunch are on your own; dinner can be eaten individually or together at restaurants and grottos in the area. \nParticipants: A maximum of 12 participants per workshop\, for a total of 24. \nUSK Week welcomes everyone who enjoys drawing. No prior experience is necessary. \nLanguage: The workshops led by Jenny Adam and Rolf Schröter will be held in German\, while those led by Eleanor Doughty and Stéphanie Senez will be in English. \nCurrent Information:\nBefore each workshop\, at 8:50 a.m.\, participants will be informed about the program details and meeting points for the sketchwalks. \nShort-notice program changes are possible. \nMaterials and Preparation:\nBring your preferred materials such as pencils\, brushes\, paints\, sketchbooks\, and drawing pads. The specific materials required for each workshop are listed in the workshop descriptions. \nWeatherproof clothing\, shoes with good tread or hiking boots\, a backpack\, hiking poles (optional)\, sun and rain protection\, and swimwear are recommended. Participation in the hikes is voluntary and requires a good level of fitness appropriate for the trails in Ticino. \nParticipants are responsible for their own suitable hiking equipment\, preparations\, and insurance.

DESCRIPTION:At St. Johann railway station\, behind the ‘Stellwerk’\, there is a fascinating spot. In the lovingly landscaped ‘Il Giardino Urbano’\, you can wander along the winding path at any time and linger on garden furniture beside old tracks and carriages\, cosily nestled amongst the greenery\, with a view of the steam rising from the waste incineration plant in the distance. \nThe view from the bridge\, accessible by lift\, is also well worth a visit. The former Stellwerk is now an attractive workplace and a hub for cultural and creative professionals from all sectors. There is also a steam bath here with an original entrance design. \nThe view of Vogesenplatz in front of the signal box offers plenty of everyday scenes. At 2 pm\, the stalls of the weekly market are being dismantled\, but the square provides plenty of subjects with its seating areas and green spaces\, bridge\, spiral staircase\, Coop entrance\, tram stop with pergola\, passers-by and distinctive buildings. \nMeeting point: 2.00 pm at the St. Johann railway station tram stop\, under the roof of the old customs hall to the right of the Stellwerk. Treffpunkt ist um 14 Uhr vor bzw. im Farel. \nOrganisatorisches: Wie immer bitte ich euch etwas zu konsumieren\, solltet ihr im Bistro zeichnen. \nZeichnungsort: Das Farel ist ein urbanes Bistro mit vielen veganen und vegetarischen Angeboten. Das Gebäude aber auch das Mobiliar ist an die 50er- und 60er Jahre angelehnt: Grosse Fensterfronten\, viel Holz\, Backstein\, Beton und Terrazzo. Im Innenhof finden sich begrünte Wasserbecken und eine Skulptur. In Laufnähe ist die Innenstadt\, die Schüss sowie das Kongresshaus.

DESCRIPTION:At the kHaus\, the former main building of the Basel barracks on the banks of the Rhein in Kleinbasel (Link: kHaus)\, we’ll make ourselves comfortable in the ‘Plaza’ – a passageway\, foyer and stairwell designed as a public living room (Link: Plaza). Here we can sketch the sculptural staircases\, the architecture and the interior design (Link: Architecture). We can sketch each other or take turns modelling briefly to warm up. Outside on the Rhein side\, with its cosy bistro\, the riverbank is a popular subject; people play boules and the Klingental ferry stops at its jetty. On the side facing the barracks courtyard\, the barracks grounds open up\, where\, in dry weather\, people always meet\, sit\, chat\, skateboard\, or whatever. \nMeeting point: at 2.00 pm in front of the entrance to the kHaus\, on the side facing the Rhein (Unterer Rheinweg\, see map). We’ll also meet there at 4.00 pm to show each other our sketches.

DESCRIPTION:Diesen Sonntag zeichnen wir in der GRIP Kletterhalle in Biel/Bienne. Treffpunkt ist um 14 Uhr vor bzw. im Bistro Grip am Rennweg 62. Wer im Bistro zeichnet\, bitte ich etwas zu konsumieren. \nZeichnungsort: Die Kletterhalle Biel verfügt über einen Innenraum und Aussenbereich mit hohen Kletterwänden sowie einem Raum zum Boldern und einem Fitnessbereich. Gleich daneben befindet sich das Bistro. Das alte Industrie-Gebäude\, in welchem sich das Grip befindet\, ist über und über mit Graffitis dekoriert und liegt gleich an den Abstellgeleisen der SBB. Im Gebäude befindet sich zudem unter anderem das Jugendkulturhaus X-Project\, eine Paintball-Anlage sowie ein Skate-Park.\nIn Laufnähe befindet sich die Schüssinsel mit dem Omega-Wurm sowie das Mett-Quartier.

The old town of Mellingen offers so many beautiful spots that invite you to draw! That’s why we’re doing two sketchcrawls here – one on March 14 and one on May 17. \n👉 The occasion is International Museum Day. What a wonderful thought that we will be part of this event! I was asked by the cultural officer of the city of Mellingen if we could do something together. I agreed. DESCRIPTION:Diesen Sonntag zeichnen wir im Museum altes Zeughaus in Solothurn. Treffpunkt ist um 14 Uhr vor bzw. im Museum.\nOrganisatorisches: Der Eintritt beträgt 8.- und die Rucksäcke müssen in den Schliessfächern verstaut werden. Es stehen Hocker zur Verfügung und aufgrund des Alters des Hauses sollte auf offenes Wasser verzichtet werden. Wassertankpinsel sind gestattet.\nZeichnungsort: Das alte Zeughaus war früher Aufbewahrungsort der Wehrausrüstung der Solothurner Bürger sowie Waffen- und Rüstungslager der Söldner. Heutzutage werden eben diese Ausrüstungen gezeigt: Von Schwertern über Lanzen\, Schusswaffen und Kanonen\, Armbrüste und Uniformen\, die Auswahl ist riesig. Im zweiten Stock befindet sich er Rüstsaal mit seinen rund 400 Rüstungen\, welche alle einzigartig in Form\, Ausstattung und Dekoration sind. In Laufnähe befindet sich die Solothurner Altstadt mit der St.Ursen-Kathedrale oder den Stadttoren\, aber auch das Aareufer.

DESCRIPTION:Two days before the Morgestraich\, we visit the permanent exhibition on Basel Carnival at the Museum of Cultures. The historic rooms convey the carnival atmosphere. They are filled with mostly historical artefacts that give Basel Carnival its distinctive character.\nIt is fun to sketch these\, as it invites you to exaggerate and caricature. Children also have fun here. Link: information about the Basel Carnival exhibition \nParticipation by registration only.\nThe exhibition is located in an annex of the museum\, where space is limited. The number of participants and the length of stay are therefore restricted\, and registration with Herrat (email address: herrat-usk@bluewin.ch) is required.\nWe will form two groups. Up to 10 people per group will have one hour to visit the exhibition:\nGroup 1: 2:00–3:00 p.m.\nGroup 2: 3:00–4:00 p.m.\nThe first 10 registrations will be in the first group from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.\, and the following registrations will be in the second group.
