SUMMARY:Sketchcrawl in and around the kHaus\, Basel
DESCRIPTION:At the kHaus\, the former main building of the Basel barracks on the banks of the Rhein in Kleinbasel (Link: kHaus)\, we’ll make ourselves comfortable in the ‘Plaza’ – a passageway\, foyer and stairwell designed as a public living room (Link: Plaza). Here we can sketch the sculptural staircases\, the architecture and the interior design (Link: Architecture). We can sketch each other or take turns modelling briefly to warm up. Outside on the Rhein side\, with its cosy bistro\, the riverbank is a popular subject; people play boules and the Klingental ferry stops at its jetty. On the side facing the barracks courtyard\, the barracks grounds open up\, where\, in dry weather\, people always meet\, sit\, chat\, skateboard\, or whatever. \nMeeting point: at 2.00 pm in front of the entrance to the kHaus\, on the side facing the Rhein (Unterer Rheinweg\, see map). We’ll also meet there at 4.00 pm to show each other our sketches.

SUMMARY:Basel Carnival\, exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Two days before the Morgestraich\, we visit the permanent exhibition on Basel Carnival at the Museum of Cultures. The historic rooms convey the carnival atmosphere. They are filled with mostly historical artefacts that give Basel Carnival its distinctive character.\nIt is fun to sketch these\, as it invites you to exaggerate and caricature. Children also have fun here. Link: information about the Basel Carnival exhibition \nParticipation by registration only.\nThe exhibition is located in an annex of the museum\, where space is limited. The number of participants and the length of stay are therefore restricted\, and registration with Herrat (email address: herrat-usk@bluewin.ch) is required.\nWe will form two groups. Up to 10 people per group will have one hour to visit the exhibition:\nGroup 1: 2:00–3:00 p.m.\nGroup 2: 3:00–4:00 p.m.\nThe first 10 registrations will be in the first group from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.\, and the following registrations will be in the second group. DESCRIPTION:We are guests at Ballet Basel\, watching training and rehearsals for a new production that will premiere on 5 February. This performance by two up-and-coming choreographers\, Anne Jung and Lilit Hakobyan\, is called ‘New Works’. Here is the link to information from Theater Basel: https://www.theater-basel.ch/de/newworkshakobyanjung \nMeeting point: 9:30 a.m. Café La Manufacture\, Elisabethenstrasse 18 (Link Maps: Café La Manufacture)\nBrief exchange of ideas on how bodies can be translated into movement.\n10 a.m. Departure for the theatre\n10.30 a.m. Start of ballet training\, followed by rehearsals\n2 p.m. End \nSchedule: First 45 minutes of training in the ballet studio; from 11:30 a.m. rehearsals\, simultaneously in two rehearsal rooms\, with 15-minute break during which we can eat (not in the rehearsal room). SUMMARY:Sketchcrawl inside the Basel SBB train station
DESCRIPTION:We will meet from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the last time this year to sketch:\nat 2:00 p.m. inside the Basel SBB train station\, at the “meeting point” in the ticket hall  (Link) \nThere are many different motifs. For example\, on the footbridge to the left of the escalator\, there is a sheltered spot from where you can sketch passers-by or people taking a break on the seating islands\, or shops where travelers linger. The ticket hall itself is also a beautiful space with murals from the 1920s\, which can be seen clearly from the footbridge. The station is currently decorated for Christmas. Other motifs include the west wing\, the hall leading to the French station\, historically preserved rooms that are now used for retail\, and much more. \nWe will meet at 4 p.m. to view the finished drawings. We will decide where to meet on site.
